About this course
This course moves beyond our Level 2 course, providing you with further skills suitable for creating solid, press-ready or multimedia-enriched PDF. The course looks at more advanced styles, text variables, colour management, hyperlinking and pre-flighting. New (more advanced) features in CS3/4 are also looked at, beyond those covered at Level 2.
InDesign is usually thought of as a print-ready application but it is also extremely powerful as a multimedia authoring tool with all the power and accuracy required of paper documents. The options for screen authoring were expanded in CS3 and even more so in CS4, offering hyperlinking, rich-media support (including QuickTime, Flash and MPEG video), PDF security, bookmarks, navigation and JavaScript enhancement.
What you will learn

The course will pick up where our Level 1 and 2 courses leave off, covering a range of important, and newer features such as advanced styles, advanced image handling, colour management, bookmarks and automation.
As well as pre-press and printing issues, we'll look at deployment of screen based documents and the related topics of screen resolution, navigation systems, rich media (video and audio) formats, movie controls, advanced use of master pages and more.
Assumed knowledge
The course may be attended as an additional day to our Level 1 and 2 courses or may be attended on it's own. If the latter, you should have been using InDesign for a while as we will assume a reasonable level of competence with the program. You should understand styles, image handling, colour swatches, master pages and printing. You need not understand colour management, multimedia features or any of the topics covered in our outline.
