About this course
Adobe Illustrator is the definitive application for creating professional drawings, logos and other vector-based objects and documents. In this introductory course we cover the essential aspects of drawing, manipulating, editing, positioning, deploying and exporting objects for use in applications such as InDesign, Acrobat or Dreamweaver.
While bitmap (raster) applications such as Photoshop allow painting, filtering and photographic enhancement, Illustrator is the tool of choice for web or print designers wishing to create logos, diagrams, plans or drawings. It's also useful as a utility application for editing PDF, EPS or other files containing objects or vector artwork.
What you will learn

While true mastery of Illustrator comes with many years experience, this course will give you the confidence to get started with vector graphics and logo design.
The course will begin with a thorough overview of the Illustrator workspace and user interface before embarking on a tour through a sample document which highlights many of Illustrator's most useful features and gives users a useful grounding and context for subsequent topics.
Creating and transforming basic shapes will then be covered, looking at the simple transformations such as scaling, positioning, distorting and replicating.
We'll then explore the powerful, but often confusing, Pen Tool and the related Direct Selection, Convert Anchor Point and Add/Remove Point tools. Colour and colour swatches will be covered along with the text handling features of Illustrator before looking at layers and layer editing and completing your workflow.
